Yavi’s Unexpected Journey to Virtual Physio

Updated: Sep 6, 2022

If somebody had told me that I’d one day be working virtually, during a lockdown, I’d have laughed.

However, as with all things, nothing is permanent and the time came to challenge normal.

It was time to play my role in the new quarantine-based “reality show” – Rodger Duckworth Virtual Physiotherapy.

As frightening as it sounded, being in front of a screen, staring at that camera’s light, it went much better than expected. Knowing Rodger had been doing some online Physio did give me the hope and confidence needed. I’m grateful I could stay in contact with many patients (with my colleague Rachel’s help), even in these unprecedented times.

I would like to thank all my patients for continuing to understand and believe in Physiotherapy. Considering the stress and confusion that came with lockdown it is appreciated. I’m glad to say I had great results with patients I worked with virtually, as challenging as seeing someone through ZOOM was. We also had a smooth transition returning to face-to-face sessions, which was surprising.

I believe the virtual physiotherapy cannot truly replace face to face, so here’s hoping this interesting but challenging experience remains a thing of the past. I do believe it does wonders to be prepared, have a plan and not be afraid to adapt and improvise.
