Sandra Watts

BSc(Hons) MCSP

Sandra graduated from Kings College London in 1993 with her degree in Biomedical Sciences with Physiotherapy.

She stayed in London to work at Guy’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, London Bridge Hospital and The Royal Free Hospital.

Whilst working in the NHS, she worked on a variety of specialisms across many different wards including outpatients, musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, children’s, neurology, women’s health, amputee/ vascular, elderly care, cardiac, respiratory and intensive care units before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

For many years then, she worked within multidisciplinary teams in areas of acute injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation, pain relief, spinal and peripheral treatment, and rheumatological rehabilitation.

After ten years in the NHS she moved into the private sector when she ran the private physiotherapy service at the Royal Free Hospital before working in a private practice in Hampstead.

She has been working at Rodger Duckworth Physiotherapy Practice since 2013 where she has combined her extensive post graduate knowledge in Women’s Health physiotherapy with her musculoskeletal caseload. She is continuously looking to extend her previous and ongoing postgraduate learning.

After the experience of having three children and being a mum herself , Sandra found herself drawn to using her skills as a physiotherapist to provide help, understanding, treatment  and advice for mums to be or women post pregnancy who need care and attention to return to function as they would like.

Sandra is a hands on musculoskeletal physiotherapist with a special interest in women’s health using her knowledge of movement dysfunction combined with clinical Pilates.

She utilises hands on mobilisations, soft tissue treatments, myofascial release and nerve treatments as well as exercise programmes for rehabilitation and for longer term prevention of recurrence of symptoms.

She is able to offer one to one pilates sessions for those who are new to pilates or is able to teach pilates based exercises as part of ongoing treatment.

Sandra’s women’s health work offers help to those who are pregnant or post pregnancy with musculoskeletal or continence dysfunctions.

Not only do we offer acute treatment but also ongoing strengthening exercise programmes for maintenance which can include Pilates type exercises for return to fitness post pregnancy. Many women later in life may well develop similar symptoms and these too can be helped.

We are now proud to offer the Mummy MOT as part of Sandra’s services which combines integrated post natal physiotherapy and functional fitness.
