Are you an expecting or new mum?
The Mummy MOT, founded by Maria Elliot, is an in-depth postnatal assessment that assesses the strength, activation, and function of the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles following childbirth.
Performed by a Specialist Post Natal Health Physiotherapist it is recommended for all women following delivery.
After having a baby most women will experience weakness in their tummy or pelvic floor muscles, which creates instability and poor core strength.
This can result in an altered transfer load, back pain, pelvic pain, bladder and bowel weakness.
To avoid these distressing symptoms you can have your tummy gap and pelvic floor assessed and start your bespoke postnatal recovery programme.
The Mummy MOT
- 1-hour specialised post-natal assessment with a Post-natal Physiotherapy specialist.
- Suitable any time from 6 weeks to 6 years!!
- Pelvic floor strengthening and tummy gap assessment.
- Assess any physical problems arising from pregnancy and labour.
- Recommends a bespoke postnatal recovery programme, looking at Posture, Breathing, and Core activation.
“Oh my god I wish I had done The Mummy Mot 5 years ago after my twins. No one checked for a tummy gap. I am now working on an intensive post natal programme and my back pain has gone and tummy gap is slowly improving” FS
“I would highly recommend The Mummy Mot. It is the most comprehensive assessment and advice session I have ever had. Sandra checked my posture, breathing, tummy and pelvic floor muscles and then recommended the best exercises to do. It was supportive and very encouraging” ES

The Mummy MOT System
The Mummy MOT combines the principles of Physiotherapy assessment with the practice of functional retraining.
Following labour postural changes, muscle imbalances and altered alignment can occur. It’s essential to correct and rebalance this otherwise pain, prolapse, urinary incontinence, or rectus abdominis diastasis will persist.
Left untreated, how can Mum’s return to their necessary activities safely. Mums need to bend, lift, squat and twist.
The Mummy MOT System identifies muscle imbalances through the assessment and the restorative exercise programme corrects them, regaining stability and allowing optimal function.
The System uses TheraBands, balls and rollers to help activate the important stabilising muscles. Proprioception and breathwork are incorporated. 100% Focus and Working purposefully on the out breathe all help to facilitate optimum muscle recovery.
