Dan Buchanan
Dan is the newest member of the Practice working as the Sports Masseur. Dan is also currently working as the club first team masseur at Reading Football Club. He has also worked with Bracknell Bees Ice Hockey Team and Berkshire Rugby.
 

What is Sports massage?

Sports massage is an extremely effective form of massage therapy that highlights particularly tight or fibrous areas within muscles, tendons, ligements and fascia.
 

Who can benefit?


Sports massage can benefit anyone, not just those who are involved in sport! It's just as effective for athletes as it is for indiviuals with general aches and pains. the benefits of massage can aid anyone suffering with occupational, emotional and postural stress as well as those with physically demanding jobs that can lead to muscle imbalances. Poor posture whilst sitting at a desk for example may cause muscle imbalances, which in turn may cause tight muscles and pain. These can soon be rectified through sports massage.

Pre and Post competition massage

Sports massage has benefits both before and after a sporting event. Prior to competion, massage will stimulate circulation, relax the muscles, reduce the risk of injusry and increase th esupply of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. Following an event the body needs time to recover therfore post competion massage can be used to remove waste products and aid recovery process.
